Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
