The artist has donated the entirety of his £25k honor cash to the MVT, which functions to preserve the United Kingdom's grassroots concert spaces.

The star was given the prize on mid-October as his latest record the album was chosen as the best record of the last 12 months.

Fender has opted to give the cash to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the essential function local spots played in his beginning days.

"I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the performances I did around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," remarked the artist. "These locations are legendary, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these locations have permanently closed – roughly 16% of the entire UK sector.

Over the past year, well-known musicians including Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.

Fender also took part, raising more than £100,000 on his live tour to help thirty-eight small stages across the UK.

These funds helped spaces that were confronting possible closure due to difficulties stemming from water damage, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.

Some locations were granted monetary aid in modernizing infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that helped musicians and concertgoers.

"The idea that funds from shows in major spaces supports the independent spots, where it begins for performers like me, is just common sense," the star has stated.

In recent years, Ezra Collective contributed their winnings to the youth organization that developed their band, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

And winners that year they contributed their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was diagnosed the condition.

"Receiving the award was ample," remarked artist the singer. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't require the extra, because we had the cake. So our winning impacted somebody else's life."

Recently, the trust shared it had saved a couple of local spots in that region, by bringing them into local control.
