Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
